Psychological Evaluations

     I administer and analyze psychological testing to respond to a variety of issues, each generally requiring individually developed batteries of tests.  Testing can be done to help in the assessment of general personality issues and issues related to specific diagnoses, and I can also administer intelligence testing, tests for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and some neurological and psychoeducational tests.

    I administer Intelligence Testing to children, adolescents and adults for a variety of purposes. For children such tests can be given as part of an application for a "Gifted and Talented" school program or as part of an entrance requirement for some private schools. For children, as well as for adolescents and adults, such tests can also be given as part of diagnostic batteries aimed at helping to provide information in the service of resolving other psychologically oriented problems.

    Evaluations for children and adults for Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can involve a variety of levels of testing and other procedures. I will typically begin with an interview of the parents which will be followed by an interview and/or observation of the child. Questionnaires are filled out, regarding the child's behavior, by the parents, the teachers, and sometimes the child, and appropriate tests can be administered. Beyond this, relevant documents can be reviewed and important others who work with the child be interviewed (i.e., teachers, daycare providers, counselors, doctors, etc.).

    Sometimes as an adjunct to psychotherapy, a battery of psychological tests can be developed to aid a therapist and patient understand important underlying issues. In doing such Personality Assessments, a range of tests can be used, including intelligence tests, self report personality inventories and projective personality tests.
